We know we'll be swamped until the end of the year trying to empty out all of our distribution plants, along with all the new stock we'll receive. It will stay busy, as people receiving gift cards for the Holidays will normally run to their computers today and tomorrow, using their gift cards for more purchases. Usually our Holiday delivery season is basically over now. We're moving these items as fast as we possibly can. I can tell you that I personally have been working six days a week, 11 hours a day since before Thanksgiving. Distribution plants all over the country have packages piled up due to a shortage in manpower. I have received no updates since and it has been 7 days. It is currently in transit to the next facility. It is currently in transit to the next facility'. Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It also states 'Your package is moving within the USPS network and is on track to be delivered to its final destination. The end result is someone has to hand deliver every one of these packages. On the 21st, I had an update simply saying 'moving through network' and 'in transit to next facility'. What Does the In Transit Arriving Late Tracking Update Mean To understand this tracking notification from the USPS, let’s break it down. Common sense tells us that people are no longer going outside to shop and are now doing the vast majority of their shopping in front of a computer screen. The main reason is the unprecedented amount of packages we are trying to move through the system. Speaking strictly regarding the USPS, we are down a large number of employees due to quarantine and deaths. Due to the COVID situation, the USPS, along with FedEx, UPS, Amazon and every other carrier out there, are extremely backed up. I messaged USPS with the tracking number and they said there are no physical scans and it isnt in their system. The USPS tracking info says 'In-Transit, arriving late.' The buyer contacted me today asking what is going on and I didn't really know how to respond. ![]() So I recently sold a pair of shoes to a buyer and the estimated delivery of the shoes was on October 3rd. I had one that was almost a week late, and it sat on out for delivery for 4 or 5 days. Question regarding 'In transit, arriving late' USPS message. As a USPS Carrier, let me give you the inside scoop. As far as the in transit, arriving late, that seems to be a new designation in the tracking by USPS, and I, too, have noticed packages being delivered late frequently. ![]()
